Did you know...
The Society of Poole Men was founded in 1924 and between 1925 and 1929 and were responsible for saving and restoring Scaplen's Court (which certainly pre-dates 1572). Scaplen's Court was handed over to Poole Town Council in 1931 and is now a museum. The Society organises the "Beating of the Land Bounds", and assists the Town of Poole who organise the Sea Bounds. The Society supports local charities with profits raised from various activities throughout the year. The Society comments on planning applications for projects in the Borough, particularly those concerning the conservation areas, and on long term plans which set out policies for the future development of the area.
